So, you're considering a unique timeless captivating handcrafted elegant meaningful personalized painting

How it works

Commissioning a painting is a personal, collaborative experience designed to bring your vision to life with ease.

To start, explain to me your idea—whether it’s a subject, setting, style, or color palette you have in mind. Depending on the size and the number of subjects we’ll discuss pricing

I provide an initial sketch or concept (very often in a digital mock-up), allowing you to see the direction of the piece and offer feedback before we move forward. This step ensures that the final artwork aligns with your expectations and feels genuinely personal. After we agree on what the painting will look like and its size, 50% is paid up front.

I usually send frequent pictures via whatsapp, as a way to get you involved in the artistic and technical side of things.

Once the piece is complete, we arrange for safe delivery (some clients prefer to pick it up, have it delivered, whatever works for you).

The pricing for commissioned paintings varies based on size, level of detail, and number of subjects included in the artwork.

  1. Size: We start with a base rate per square centimeter (€0.50) for a simple composition. Larger paintings naturally require more materials and time, so the price adjusts accordingly. For one figure a minimal size is 50×60 cm.

  2. Number of Subjects: Each additional subject (people, animals, or intricate objects) adds complexity to the piece, enhancing its depth and personality. The additional detail for each subject requires more time and refinement, which is reflected in the pricing.

  3. Detail Level: Intricate backgrounds, fine details, and complex lighting also influence pricing, allowing you to customize how realistic or detailed you’d like the piece to be.

Very often people have a picture in mind they want to have painted. Equally often the resolution or light situation don’t make for a great painting.

If at all possible I take my own photographs as reference and/or spend some time sketching the sitter and sometimes do a painted color study from life. This will not affect the pricing but will most certainly improve the end result of the painting.
